How to name your brand - 5 Game-Changing Strategies for Naming your next Big Project

Hey there, fellow multi-passionate entrepreneurs!

It's Adriana Moreno here, juggling the joys of motherhood, the thrill of online business, and navigating the vibrant waves of ADHD.

Today, I'm diving into a topic that's crucial for any project you're dreaming up—whether it's your brand, a podcast, or an online course. Naming your venture is the first step towards turning those dreams into reality, and I've got five stellar strategies to share with you.

So, let's jump right in!

1. The Power of Personal Connection

The first strategy is all about leveraging your own name to give your brand that personal touch. Think Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, and Coco Chanel. Using your name creates a timeless connection to your brand. While it's authentic and hits the personal branding nail on the head, remember, expanding beyond can be a bit tricky. Emotional attachment makes selling a challenge, but not an impossibility.

2. Umbrella Brand Magic

Next up, consider crafting an umbrella brand name with room for sub-brands or products. Apple and Amazon are prime examples, showcasing flexibility and scalability. For instance, my online magazine Admori (A-D-M-O-R-I) combines my name in a short, memorable package. The catch? You might need a bit of marketing muscle to establish your brand identity.

3. Creative Wordplay

Strategy number three dives into the world of wordplay, puns, and acronyms. Spotify and Snapchat brilliantly embody this approach, making their names both catchy and descriptive. While it’s memorable and fun, be wary of becoming too obscure or misaligned with your brand's purpose.

4. The Abstract Approach

Sometimes, going abstract or picking an unrelated name can set you apart. Amazon and Apple are excellent examples. This route offers uniqueness and a broad application spectrum. However, be prepared for the extra effort in branding to forge that connection with your product or service.

5. Descriptive and Value-Laden Names

Our fifth strategy focuses on names that describe or reflect your brand's values, like Whole Foods or my mini membership, Mindset Code. It's direct and resonates instantly with your audience. Yet, it's worth noting that too narrow a scope might limit future branding evolution.

Finding the Perfect Fit

Naming your brand is a blend of creativity and strategy. Remember to check for availability, both legally and online, and consider how the name aligns with your brand’s essence and future aspirations.
